Andy Johnson 3.0 out of 5 stars The instructions even say that if they are too long, just cut off the excess. Problem is, you need a hacksaw to cut it or plyers to bend the end back and forth. Once installed, they obviously don't fit perfect. They leave the corners open. They also protrude out past the outside of the vent. I would expect them to be flush. This could cut someone if they brush up against the side of the trailer. See pics attached.I found the screens here on amazon and read the reviews. I then decided to purchase them and use them on my own rv. What I like most about the Camco Flying Insect Screen for Dometic Refrigerator Vents is that it fit my vents perfectly. I did not have to make any adjustments to them. We did use the zip ties that came with them. You get 3 screens and 6 zip ties. Two for each screen. Like other reviews have mentioned you really need 3 per screen. If you really want it really tight you could use more. With that said I found that 3 zip ties work perfect. I did not place the third Camco Flying Insect Screen for Dometic Refrigerator Vents on the third vent as I need more zip ties and have to put a hole in the last one so that my fridge drain hose can come through in order to drain out of the fridge area. The Camco Flying Insect Screen for Dometic Refrigerator Vents are well constructed and mine came in very straight and was easy to apply to the vents. With that said if you have large hands and fingers then use a tweezers or needle nose pliers to pull the other end of the zip tie through to lock it in place. I did not have to do that as I have little hands. Hubby has large hands so he would have had too. Make sure you apply the screen to the outside of the white frige vent cover. We started on the inside and found they did not fit as exact. Then we replaced it to the ouside and they fit perfectly. I do think they should include 9 zip ties instead of only 6.

Little thin ones like them might be hard to come by and the wider ones might have a hard time going in to set up for the locking postion. All in all I am very pleased with the Camco Flying Insect Screen for Dometic Refrigerator Vents and look to forward to them protecting my frige area from bugs etc. I think the Camco Flying Insect Screen for Dometic Refrigerator Vents are a great addition to my old RV and they look rather nice. I am glad I found these and read the reviews. However, I have issue with the fit. I understood when buying them the they may need to be trimmed to fit. I used a very large pair of tin snips to trim the wire mesh, but no way would it cut through the metal strip along the edge. That required using a grinder to cut it off. Also, each end of the mesh is rounded as you can see in the picture. However, my application has square ends. So there was a gap big enough for bugs to crawl in because of the rounded end. I had to hot glue a piece of filler plastic into the gap. Wouldn't it be better to have a square end on the screen and have to trim off as needed, rather than round the ends. I don't think there are that may different manufacturers of RV refrigerators on the market, so making one to fit many shouldn't be a problem. Also, two zip ties per screen is not enough. I added a couple more. Zip ties are cheap when bought in bulk. Couldn't the include a few more to get the job done right? The curve it too steep unless you want to caulk it or something. I do not. I read and measured and read reviews and still these did not fit. There is a curve and in the photo it looked right. Other people have had to cut the square screens- we will see. I wish there was a way to tell by RV what you needed- seems like there is A LOT of guessing going on. Disappointing for sure.

Also, my domestic fridge has a drain hose, so had to poke a hole in the bottom one for the hose, used pliers and snips to open the hole, I wish they had provided a vent hole for that, but not too big a deal. The screens have a metal strip that helps keep everything tight, but it still gaps without several zip ties, way more than supplied.Easy to install, just use the nylon ties and secure in place. Two recommendations 1) My fridge has a drain hose, so I had to make a cut to pull the hose out to drain properly - not an issue but it does require some basic level of craftsmanship - the mesh is steel so it does require the right pliers to cut it. 2) it comes with 6 zip ties, which are good, but not enough. Having a few extra ties would make a much better seal, so I recommend you get a few extra ones from any store. Dealer had them for twice the prices, install was easy. However, if you only secure them at each end as the directions state, there could be problems with the center flexing open and bending as your rig bounces down the road. Also, after I attached the ends, I tested them with a slight tug of my finger. What I found was that the front, with the heavy frame material, would easily rotate downward and leave a small gap all along the front edge. I solved this problem by adding two more tie wraps evenly spaced between the center and the other two; basically dividing the screen into three sections. Works like a charm. I would definitely recommend or purchase again.Friends had bees set up housekeeping in the fridge vent area of their trailer so I've seen the trouble insects can cause. The real driver for me though, is keeping rodents out. I've seen so many people lately getting mice in their RV's that I'm determined to make my RV as mouse resistant as I possibly can. I bought some screen at a hardware store and tried to make my own set of screens for my fridge vent. It didn't take me very long to figure out that I should have ordered these in the first place!

Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again In principle, they are a great idea. We do not wipe our feet or do anything different than just step up and down the stairs. The fabric is thin to begin with, not a good quality carpet they used, but had to throw them out after a couple months of use.won't be getting these again. What you are buying is convenience. It is a conveniently cut piece of outdoor carpet material to help keep dirt and debris out of your camper. The carpet has 2 metal and good quality grommets on the ends to secure it to the step, but it is secured by a cheap spring. That is my complaint. The spring is weak and low quality, I even had one fall off the day I put it on. I have mine held in place with 2 zip ties and no issues after many miles on the road and days at locations. I would still recommend all RV enthuses pick one up just help keep dirt out, but also pick you up a bag of zip ties. I have used the Camco wrap around step rug on my 1997 Class a Motorhome and with normal expected wear, I have replaced it a couple of times. When I received my new Camco Step rug I knew there was a difference even before opening the package. The quality of the step rug has diminished quite a bit. The material is so thin if you hold it up to the light you can see right through it in several spots on the rug. I would say 75 % of the rug is paper thin.

I would definitely research another brand in the future. The install was a little tricky because our bottom stair has a bar running beneath but a little patience and wiggling the cover around will get the job done. Our steps have cut outs to create grip but they hurt your feet when barefoot. We live in FL so taking your shoes off outside is important to keep the sand out of the RV. We also have a dog that was having a horrible time using the steps but no more. He is older so he can even see them better at night whereas he could not see the black steps in low light before. We have a slight curve to our steps so we bought the smaller pads so they wouldn’t bow out on the edges and they worked out fine. I recommend buying the smaller ones anyway because they are plenty wide and there is no need to pay more to cover the whole step. My only complaint is that they get soaked after our heavy afternoon rainstorms in the summer months so it takes them a while to dry out. Honestly, it’s worth walking on damp pads sometimes just so the dog can be happy. I can see the fabric wearing out and fraying eventually from sweeping them off but I think will hold up a long time. This is one of those easy and affordable upgrades that make a big difference. Highly recommend!Surprisingly, the springs that hold the cover around the step are much flimsier than what we had before. They bent easily and provided minimal tension, allowing the step cover to slip and slide. I was able to reuse a set of springs from an old step cover, for the second one I had to buy a pack of better springs from Lowes.Second: I bought it because the non-slip skateboard tape that's on my step is losing it's surface. Ever slipped off an RV step. KILLS your back and sends your drink flying. Third: Right off the bat, I'm thinking WOW this thing is thin and those springs are never going to stay where I go wilderness camping.

Fourth: I already know I'll toss the springs and just use really thick, wide nylon zipties - that will cure the weak spring problem mentioned in other reviews. BUT: The fifth thing is - it looks really slick (slippery slick). Like way more slippery than my metal step with failing skateboard tape. And so thin, I know it'll be ruined in less than two years. If so, I'll take the idea, use my grommet installer, and just go get a piece of thicker carpet remnant and remake the thing. OVERALL: Looks real nice at first, clean and classy. Just not sure it'll do the job I was hoping for.I have no problem with the rug itself and as far as the weight, I'm not sure if it would work on our steps when they are pulled in, if they were any thicker. Because of having to use the plastic ties on them we will leave them on our RV steps. It would be a lot of trouble to try to remove them. They look nice and are easy to clean off.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Mine have a slight curve to the nose of the step so the underside material bunches up in the centre a little when the springs pull tight. Despite this, the top side of the material sits on nice and tidy. They look great and dry fast after a rain. They do help stop tracking debris into the trailer entry. My dog now enters and exits the trailer unaided now. Stops their nails hooking in the step tread holes and it isn't slippery anymore for them.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again My dogs will feel so much for comfortable getting in the trailer too!! The springs seem a little bit on the flimsy side though so once camping season is underway next year we will see how long they hold. Either way, it would be an easy fix.Sorry, we failed to record your vote.

Please try again In fact, it seems so dangerous to me that I decide to drill a few small holes in the corner of my steps, poked a set of matching holes in the carpet, then zap strapped the carpet in place so that I don't slip and fall off the steps.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Negativeness the hooks at thin and fell off several times as they Bend easily we ended up losing one first time on roadSorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Perfect fit and no need to remove during travel.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Would buy again.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Easy to clean as well, simply spray with water hose or pressure washer. Installation was a breeze, hooks on with 2 spring hooks.Sorry, we failed to record your vote.
